Fall Fives 〰️

At the BMTCP, the Fall Fives program serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten. We use the Rhode Island Early Learning Development Standards (RIELDS) as the basis for designing our curriculum. Social-emotional development is an essential component of our program and the foundation for everything we do in our classroom.

We begin each day with a Team Meeting (based on the Responsive Classroom’s Morning Meeting) and end our day with a Team Huddle;

“Teamwork makes the dream work” is our motto!

Every day, each child has a classroom job; one day they might be the Line Leader and the next they might deliver the daily weather report. We also incorporate yoga, mindfulness, and breathwork within our daily routines. These practices are intended to encourage independence and responsibility, promote a sense of community and team spirit, and teach critical social skills, such as self-regulation and verbal communication.

In both our indoor and outdoor classrooms, academic and cognitive growth is developed through hands-on learning activities cooperative group projects, games, and learning centers designed to support learning across the curriculum:

  • Literacy

  • Language

  • Mathematics

  • Science

  • Social studies

  • Art

Our weekly Cooking Class is a hands-on, cooperative group activity that is particularly popular with students and teachers!

Throughout the year, the Fall Fives also enjoy several special events including Bike Days in the Fall and Spring; Sledding Days in the Winter; and Guest Readers and Garden Party in the Spring.
